Mbappe stuns Barcelona 2-1 in Mourinho's Camp Nou return

Real Madrid capitalized on a dominant performance to defeat Barcelona 2-1 in an intense El Clasico encounter on Sunday, with Kylian Mbappe's two-goal haul securing victory for Jose Mourinho in his first match at Camp Nou since taking charge of the club's arch-rivals.

Mbappe's clinical finishing proved decisive, particularly his opening goal in the 41st minute when he capitalized on a defensive lapse to give Madrid the advantage. The French forward added a second to seal the victory, though Barcelona pulled one back to make the final scoreline more respectable.

Barcelona's Lamine Yamal, the 19-year-old sensation, had a night to forget at the Catalan club's home ground. The young star squandered a clear-cut chance late in the first half, sliding to his back in visible frustration as he covered his face—a rare moment of disappointment for the prodigy more accustomed to delivering match-winning performances.

The defeat marked a frustrating outing for Barcelona, who were unable to breach Madrid's defense consistently despite playing at home before over 60,000 spectators. Mbappe, considered among the leading contenders for the prestigious Ballon d'Or award to be announced in London on Monday, demonstrated why with a commanding display that overshadowed Yamal's uncharacteristic underperformance.
