Rauf stated that the decision to grant MCA two extra parliamentary seats reflected a strategic calculation rather than capitulation to party demands. The allocation, agreed upon between Barisan Nasional and Perikatan Nasional, was based on a thorough evaluation of which candidates and constituencies offered the strongest prospects for victory.
According to the Melaka BN leadership, the seat distribution process involved detailed analysis of voter sentiment and electoral dynamics across contested areas. This approach ensures that the coalition maximises its winning potential in upcoming polls by fielding candidates in constituencies where they maintain competitive advantage.
The clarification comes as speculation continues regarding internal negotiations between BN component parties over seat allocations. MCA, as one of BN's three major partners alongside UMNO and MIC, has historically advocated for adequate parliamentary representation reflecting its organisational strength and electoral contributions.
The arrangement underscores ongoing efforts by the BN-PN coalition to present a united front while balancing the interests of multiple political stakeholders. Officials stressed that all seat distributions follow established protocols prioritising electoral viability and party performance records.
