PETALING JAYA — The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) and the Selangor state government are moving to broaden deployment of filtered internet services beyond their current scope, targeting public facilities and private sector organizations.
The expansion effort represents a coordinated approach to managing online content access across institutional networks in the state. Both agencies are working to implement safeguards that would restrict access to prohibited websites and harmful digital content in shared computing environments.
The initiative is expected to encompass schools, government offices, and private institutions that opt into the program. Officials indicated that the service would help create safer digital environments while maintaining operational efficiency across participating organizations.
The rollout timing and specific implementation details are still being finalized through coordination between MCMC and state authorities. Participation from private institutions is expected to be voluntary, with organizations able to customize filtering parameters based on their specific requirements.
The expanded service builds on existing content filtering frameworks already operational in select government facilities, extending these protections to a wider institutional network across Selangor.
