MEA Sets Up Control Room to Assist Indian Citizens in Nepal Floods

The Ministry of External Affairs has activated a control room to provide real-time support to Indian citizens impacted by recent flooding in Nepal. The facility will coordinate rescue operations, provide consular assistance, and relay critical information to stranded nationals.

Indians requiring immediate assistance can reach the control room through two dedicated telephone lines: +91 11 2308 8718 and +91 11 2308 8719. Both numbers are operational to handle the expected volume of distress calls and inquiries from affected persons and their families.

The MEA's intervention comes as Nepal grapples with significant flood damage across multiple districts. The control room will liaise with Indian diplomatic missions in Kathmandu and coordinate with Nepalese authorities to facilitate evacuations and provide humanitarian aid where necessary.

Indians seeking information about relatives or requesting evacuation assistance are advised to contact the control room during operating hours. The MEA has also advised citizens in Nepal to register with the Indian Embassy and remain updated on travel advisories and safety guidelines.
