LEGAZPI CITY – Authorities said Friday that meat supplies remain on track for the year-end festivities, even as extreme weather conditions threaten farm output across key livestock-producing regions.

The National Meat Inspection Service (NMIS) issued the assurance during its 33rd Meat Safety Consciousness Week and 54th founding anniversary celebration in Bicol, one of the country's major livestock areas. Officials acknowledged that the ongoing El Niño phenomenon has created challenges for herders and producers, but said contingency measures are in place to maintain supply levels.

The NMIS noted that despite drought conditions affecting grazing areas and feed availability, coordinated efforts across the livestock sector are sufficient to meet holiday demand. The agency emphasized its continued monitoring of meat supply chains and safety standards as the peak season approaches.

Officials urged consumers to purchase from licensed meat establishments and ensure proper handling of meat products. The NMIS stressed that maintaining food safety protocols remains critical even as supply concerns persist in agriculture-dependent communities.
