Meesho expects to enable more than 10 lakh seasonal job opportunities across its ecosystem as it prepares for the festive shopping surge, the company announced on Friday. The employment drive aims to support businesses within the platform that typically experience heightened demand during India's major shopping festivals.
Approximately 6.5 lakh of the projected positions will be created within Meesho's seller network, where nearly 1.3 lakh merchants are anticipated to hire seasonal workers. These temporary roles will span packaging, manufacturing, production, warehousing, and inventory management functions as sellers build stock, introduce new products, and expand their festive collections for the peak season.
The remaining 3.75 lakh seasonal jobs are expected to emerge across the company's logistics operations. Meesho's own logistics platform, Valmo, together with third-party logistics partners, will scale up operational capacity to handle the projected surge in order volumes during the festive period. The logistics expansion underscores the platform's commitment to strengthening its supply chain capabilities during peak demand windows.
The festive season remains a critical revenue-generating period for India's e-commerce sector, driving substantial activity across seller inventories and delivery networks. Industry players typically gear up months in advance to manage the anticipated consumer demand spike that characterizes this retail cycle.
