Melaka PH candidate pledges to address fishers', farmers' concerns

Farzana Hayani Nasir, the Pakatan Harapan candidate for the Kelebang constituency, has committed to prioritising several key issues affecting rural livelihoods if elected in the upcoming Melaka state election.

Among her pledges are improvements to jetty facilities for fishermen, enhanced drainage and irrigation systems for rice farmers, and expanded employment opportunities for young people in the area. The candidate identified these as critical concerns raised by constituents during engagement with the community.

The proposals form part of broader efforts by opposition parties to address longstanding grievances in agricultural and fishing-dependent constituencies ahead of polling day. Youth unemployment and inadequate rural infrastructure have emerged as recurring themes in campaign messaging across several state constituencies.

Farzana's focus on practical service delivery reflects a strategic push by PH to rebuild support in rural areas, where support had previously shifted following the 2018 federal election cycle. The Melaka state election represents an important battleground for multiple political coalitions seeking to consolidate voter bases before potential national polls.
