Melaka PH pledges comprehensive review of stalled projects if elected

Melaka Pakatan Harapan chief Adly Zahari announced that a PH-led state government would undertake a thorough evaluation of long-stalled development initiatives currently gathering dust across the state. The comprehensive review aims to establish a clear pathway forward for projects that have remained in limbo, potentially freeing up resources and clarifying the state's infrastructure priorities.

Among the initiatives facing scrutiny would be the Melaka monorail project, which has languished without progress for an extended period. Adly indicated that the assessment would determine whether these ventures merit continued investment with new funding mechanisms or should be abandoned entirely to redirect resources toward more viable alternatives.

The commitment reflects PH's broader positioning ahead of the state election, emphasizing financial prudence and practical governance. By pledging to evaluate rather than automatically revive or scrap projects, the opposition coalition is signalling an approach based on objective assessment rather than political considerations.

Thousands of ringgit in public funds have been tied up in Melaka's stalled infrastructure projects, with some initiatives dating back several years. The proposed review represents a potential opportunity to unlock capital for other developmental priorities while addressing public concerns about wasteful spending on abandoned schemes.
