Melaka to subsidise motorcycle maintenance costs for p-hailing riders
Melaka's chief minister has announced a subsidy programme to help delivery riders reduce maintenance expenses for their motorcycles. Riders using approved workshops will receive discounts of between 20 and 30 percent on servicing costs.

Chief Minister Ab Rauf Yusoh revealed the maintenance subsidy initiative aimed at easing operational costs for platform-based hailing riders in the state. Under the scheme, delivery riders who service their motorcycles at selected workshops will benefit from discounts ranging from 20 to 30 percent on total maintenance charges.
The programme is designed to support the growing number of p-hailing workers who depend on their vehicles for income generation. By reducing maintenance expenses, the initiative aims to improve the economic viability of riders' operations and ensure their motorcycles remain in safe working condition.
The state government has partnered with designated workshops to provide the subsidised services. Riders will need to verify their status through the participating workshops to access the discount benefits available under the scheme.
The announcement underscores Melaka's commitment to supporting the gig economy workforce, which has become an integral part of the state's delivery and transportation ecosystem.
