Men's Group Demands State Commission, Stages Symbolic Protest in Maharashtra

An organization advocating for men's rights conducted a symbolic protest in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar on Vijayadashami, burning an effigy as part of their campaign for a state men's commission. The 'Men's Ashram for Husbands Suffering from Wives' organized the demonstration to draw attention to what they describe as legal provisions being exploited to disadvantage men and their dependents.

Bharat Phulare, the organization's chief, alleged that certain laws are being systematically misused to harass men and cause distress to their families. He contended that legislative frameworks intended for other purposes have been weaponized against the male population.

The group has been conducting this annual symbolic protest for the past decade as part of their broader advocacy efforts. According to Phulare, the organization remains committed to sustaining its campaign until a dedicated men's commission is established at the state level.

The symbolic burning of effigies during Vijayadashami, a Hindu festival marking the victory of good over evil, has become the organization's annual method of raising awareness about their cause. The group frames their demands within the context of what they perceive as systemic inequalities affecting men in family law and related matters.
