The Ballon d'Or nomination process has revealed a compelling roster of contenders for the 2026 award, showcasing the depth of elite talent across European and global football. Legendary Argentine forward Lionel Messi headlines the men's shortlist alongside other titans of the modern game, including French striker Kylian Mbappe and English forward Harry Kane.

Young Spanish sensation Lamine Yamal has earned his place among football's established elite, reflecting the tournament's recognition of emerging talent reshaping world football. The nominations also feature Manchester City's prolific goal-scorer Erling Haaland, Real Madrid winger Vinicius Junior, and French internationals Ousmane Dembele and Mohamed Salah, among others competing for individual honours.

The Ballon d'Or, awarded annually by France Football magazine in partnership with UEFA, remains football's most celebrated individual accolade.
