Keletihan logam berkemungkinan punca insiden roller-coaster Sunway Lagoon

Sunway Group founder Jeffrey Cheah has suggested that metal fatigue could be the underlying cause of a recent roller-coaster incident at Sunway Lagoon theme park. The incident, which has drawn public attention, occurred on a ride that had undergone inspection and maintenance procedures just two to three weeks prior to the accident.

Cheah disclosed that the temporary closure of the ride was part of routine safety protocols and maintenance schedules at the entertainment complex. The timing of the inspection relative to the incident has raised questions about the thoroughness of the examination and what factors may have been overlooked.

Metal fatigue, a condition where materials gradually weaken over time due to repeated stress and use, is a known concern in mechanical rides. If confirmed as the cause, it would indicate that despite the recent maintenance period, the underlying structural degradation of components may not have been adequately detected or addressed during the inspection process.

The Sunway Group has not yet released a comprehensive investigation report into the incident. Safety officials and engineering experts are expected to conduct a thorough analysis to determine the exact cause and to ensure appropriate measures are implemented to prevent similar occurrences in the future.

Sunway Lagoon remains a major tourist attraction in the Klang Valley region and has generally maintained a strong safety record since its establishment.
