KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 29 — The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has warned of severe thunderstorms and heavy rainfall across multiple regions, with the alert remaining in effect until 7pm today.

The weather advisory covers six states alongside the federal territory of Kuala Lumpur, where meteorologists forecast intense electrical storms accompanied by substantial precipitation. The department cautioned that conditions may lead to localized flooding and hazardous travel situations.

MetMalaysia advised the public to remain indoors where possible during the warning period and to avoid venturing into flood-prone areas. Motorists have been urged to exercise extra caution on roadways, as reduced visibility and water accumulation on road surfaces present significant risks.

The department indicated that weather conditions are expected to improve after the alert expires at 7pm, with monitoring continuing throughout the evening. Residents are encouraged to stay updated with official MetMalaysia announcements for any changes to the forecast.
