KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 29 — The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has issued a thunderstorm warning for multiple regions across Peninsular Malaysia and Sarawak, with adverse weather conditions expected to last until 7pm today.
The alert covers widespread areas, with forecasters predicting heavy rainfall accompanied by gusty winds that could affect travel and outdoor activities throughout the affected regions. MetMalaysia advised residents and motorists to exercise caution during the warning period.
The department recommended that the public monitor weather updates closely and avoid unnecessary travel in affected areas. Authorities urged residents in flood-prone zones to remain vigilant, as heavy downpours could lead to water accumulation in low-lying areas.
MetMalaysia indicated that conditions were expected to improve after the stipulated time, though localised areas may continue to experience residual rainfall. The department will issue further updates should weather conditions warrant extension of the alert.
