The national government is continuing its free ride assistance programme for commuters whose daily commutes are disrupted by inclement weather, the Department of Transportation announced Wednesday.
The DOTr said the complimentary transport services will remain available on designated Metro Manila routes as the southwest monsoon, locally known as habagat, maintains its presence over the region. The measure is designed to provide relief to workers and students navigating the wet conditions.
The weather system is expected to bring significant rainfall throughout the day, prompting authorities to maintain mobility support for affected travellers. The free rides programme has been activated on key commuter corridors to ensure residents can reach their destinations despite the challenging weather conditions.
Commuters are advised to check with transport operators for updated information on participating routes and service schedules. Authorities continue to monitor weather conditions and may adjust the programme based on rainfall intensity and road conditions.
