Metro Manila Council to study unified anti-littering ticket system

The Metro Manila Council convened at the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority headquarters in Pasig City on Tuesday to discuss standardizing enforcement measures against littering across the capital region. Las Piñas Representative Mark Santos brought forward the proposal, which seeks to create a unified ticketing system for anti-littering violations.

The proposed single ticketing mechanism aims to address inconsistencies in how different municipalities and cities within Metro Manila currently handle littering offenses. By establishing uniform citation standards and procedures, officials believe the system could improve compliance and streamline administrative processes across jurisdictions.

The council has committed to studying Santos's proposal in detail before moving toward implementation. The initiative reflects ongoing efforts by regional authorities to enhance environmental management and maintain cleanliness standards throughout Metro Manila's 17 cities and municipalities.

No timeline for the study's completion or potential rollout of the system has been announced. The council is expected to present findings and recommendations at future meetings as the examination of the proposal progresses.
