MANILA — The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority reported light to moderate traffic flow across several key routes in the capital region Friday morning as residents began their Undas exodus.
The holiday period, traditionally observed over the All Saints' and All Souls' Days weekend, prompted residents to journey to their home provinces to visit family graves and celebrate the occasion.
Traffic monitoring data from the MMDA indicated that major thoroughfares experienced slower-than-usual movement but remained passable through the morning hours. The congestion reflected the steady stream of vehicles heading outbound from the metropolitan area as travelers sought to beat peak holiday traffic.
The holiday break typically generates significant traffic surges on key provincial routes as Filipinos undertake annual pilgrimages to commemorate their deceased loved ones. Weather forecasts indicated cloudy skies and possible rain in the region during the period, which could potentially impact travel conditions throughout the weekend.
