Metro Manila, provinces braced for heavy rains as monsoon intensifies

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) issued orange and yellow rainfall warnings Wednesday morning as the habagat, or southwest monsoon, persists over parts of the country.

Orange alerts indicate heavy rainfall expected in the warned areas, while yellow alerts signal moderate to heavy downpours. Residents and local government units in affected provinces were advised to monitor weather updates and prepare for possible flooding and landslides.

The southwest monsoon typically brings enhanced rainfall to western sections of Luzon and the Visayas during this season. Pagasa urged the public to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions as weather conditions are expected to continue affecting the region.

Motor vehicle operators and residents in low-lying and flood-prone areas were advised to exercise caution. The weather bureau said it would continue monitoring the situation and update alert levels as conditions develop.
