The Metro Manila Subway Project (MMSP) is approaching completion at nearly 60 percent, President Marcos disclosed on Wednesday during ceremonies launching work on a new station serving Manila's premier international airport. The Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 3 station will be constructed beneath an existing open parking area at the airport in Pasay City.
The subway project represents one of the government's flagship infrastructure developments aimed at easing traffic congestion in the densely populated capital region. The extension to NAIA Terminal 3 will connect the airport directly to the broader subway network, facilitating passenger movement to and from the facility.
Construction of the NAIA Terminal 3 station is now underway, with work expected to proceed according to the project's development timeline. The station will provide passengers with direct access between the airport terminal and the metro system when completed.
The MMSP has been a cornerstone of the administration's infrastructure agenda, with completion of the majority of the network expected in coming years. Officials did not provide a specific completion date for the overall project or the NAIA station during Wednesday's groundbreaking ceremony.
