MG Motor is set to strengthen its portfolio in India with the introduction of a new seven-seat sport utility vehicle designed to compete directly with established players in the segment.
The Chinese automaker will initially launch the vehicle in electric form, with plans to introduce a plug-in hybrid version subsequently. The move reflects growing demand in India for multi-seat SUVs that offer both space and modern powertrain options.
The new model will pit MG Motor against established competitors including Tata Motors and Mahindra & Mahindra, both of which have popular seven-seat offerings in their respective lineups. The segment has seen increased consumer interest as Indian buyers increasingly opt for larger vehicles that cater to family transportation needs.
While specific pricing and detailed specifications have not yet been announced, the launch is expected to provide customers with additional choices in a market segment that has become increasingly important for major automotive manufacturers operating in India.
