Harry Cossyphas, a senior at a Miami high school, has earned widespread praise after witnessing a robbery and immediately taking action to apprehend the perpetrator. The 17-year-old pursued the suspect into a nearby alley, demonstrating remarkable courage in a situation that quickly turned dangerous.
During the pursuit, Cossyphas was pepper-sprayed by the fleeing suspect but continued his efforts to apprehend him. The teenager managed to tackle and physically restrain the man until Miami Police Department officers arrived at the scene.
The Miami Police Department formally recognized Cossyphas's actions with a hero award, commending his swift response and bravery in taking immediate action rather than remaining a bystander. Police noted that his intervention was instrumental in preventing the suspect's escape.
The suspect, identified as Yagiz Dogan, was subsequently charged with third-degree grand theft. Authorities have credited Cossyphas's involvement as a critical factor in securing the arrest and recovery of stolen property.
