Armed militants ambushed an Assam Rifles patrol team in Arunachal Pradesh's Changlang district on Tuesday morning, leaving one soldier dead and four others wounded. The attack took place around 6:30 a.m. near Nampong Nallah under Nampong circle, according to defence officials. The personnel were conducting a routine patrol in an area where border fencing work is currently underway. The circumstances surrounding the ambush and the identity of the militants remain under investigation. Security forces have heightened alertness in the region following the incident. Changlang district, located in eastern Arunachal Pradesh near the Myanmar border, has witnessed sporadic militant activity in recent years. The Assam Rifles, tasked with border security and counter-insurgency operations in the Northeast, regularly conducts patrols in remote and challenging terrain across the state.
