Military institute marks Janmashtami with traditional Dahi Handi festivities

The Maharashtrashtrian Light Infantry Regiment Centre observed the annual Janmashtami festival with traditional observances and community participation. Brigadier Girish Upadhya, Commandant of MLIRC, formally inaugurated the celebrations, which featured the characteristic Dahi Handi competition central to the festival's observance.

Janmashtami, marking the birth of Lord Krishna, is celebrated with considerable enthusiasm across Maharashtra and other parts of India. The festival is particularly known for the Dahi Handi tradition, where participants form human pyramids to break earthen pots suspended overhead, recreating Krishna's legendary exploits as a child.
