Military launches operation against BIFF fighters in Mindanao

Three Army infantry battalions launched a coordinated operation early Saturday morning against elements of the Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters (BIFF) – Bungos Faction in Tugunan town within the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) Special Geographic Area.

The 40th, 99th and 92nd Infantry Battalions mobilized for the tactical engagement targeting the militant group's positions in the region. Military operations in the area have intensified as security forces continue efforts to combat active armed groups operating in Mindanao.

The BIFF's Bungos Faction has remained active in parts of the BARMM and surrounding areas despite previous military operations. The pursuit follows established protocols for military response to armed group activities threatening regional stability.
