LINAMON, Lanao del Norte — A military officer has reminded the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) to work through official Bangsamoro peace process mechanisms when planning movements, seeking to prevent a recurrence of Wednesday's incident that triggered fear among residents in Kolambugan.
The incident involved some 200 MILF personnel, approximately half of whom were armed, whose movement through the area was not coordinated with proper authorities. The unexpected convoy prompted concern and panic among local residents, prompting military officials to address the matter.
The Philippine Armed Forces emphasized that coordination through established peace process channels would help prevent similar situations that could jeopardize the security environment and public confidence in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM).
Military and MILF representatives have maintained various coordination mechanisms as part of broader peace agreements governing the autonomous region. Officials indicated that proper notification through these channels would allow authorities to manage security arrangements and community communications around troop movements.
