BACOLOD CITY — Residents and officials in Sipalay City are witnessing an unusual natural event as millions of tiny shrimp have carpeted approximately half a kilometer of beachfront in shades of pink since Sunday morning. The crustaceans have consistently appeared along the shore from Barangay 2 to Barangay 5 each dawn, with Wednesday, October 14, marking the highest concentration recorded so far, according to Dionilo Bogtae, coordinator for Sipalay's coastal monitoring efforts.

The phenomenon has persisted for four consecutive days, creating a striking visual display across the affected beaches. Local residents have been tracking the daily appearances, with the shrimp blanket most pronounced during early morning hours before gradually dispersing.

While similar occurrences have been documented in other coastal regions, the scale and duration of the current event in Sipalay has prompted closer observation by local government units. Authorities have not yet determined the precise factors driving the massive shrimp aggregation, though seasonal patterns and water conditions are being examined as potential causes.

The event remains under monitoring as officials seek to understand whether the phenomenon will continue or gradually subside in coming days.
