Milma's dairy sales surge ahead of Kerala's Onam festival

Milma, Kerala's leading dairy cooperative, has reported a sharp rise in sales during the Onam festival season, reflecting heightened consumer demand for dairy products during the festive period. Between August 20 and 25, which encompasses Uthradam day marking the official start of Onam festivities, the cooperative sold 1,45,76,846.63 litres of milk.

The sales volume represents a 5.61 per cent increase compared to the same period last year, underscoring growing consumption patterns during the annual harvest celebration. The uptick in milk sales coincides with traditional Onam customs that involve increased household purchases of dairy products for cooking and preparation of festival delicacies.

The growth in Milma's dairy sales during the festival season reflects the cooperative's strengthened market position and increased consumer preference during peak purchasing periods. Such seasonal surges are common across Kerala's dairy sector, as families prepare for Onam celebrations that typically involve elaborate feasts and traditional sweet preparations.
