CALAPAN CITY, Oriental Mindoro — Police authorities in the Mimaropa region have planted 31,592 trees as part of a coordinated environmental conservation program launched in July, the regional police office announced Wednesday.
The initiative has mobilized hundreds of personnel and civilians to participate in reforestation efforts across multiple provinces and municipalities. The program reflects broader efforts by law enforcement agencies in the Philippines to contribute to environmental protection and climate action.
A major tree-planting activity took place on September 8 in Barangay Sta. Isabel, Pinamalayan town in Oriental Mindoro, where nearly 300 participants planted additional saplings. Such large-scale community events have become central to the regional police office's environmental strategy.
The Mimaropa region, encompassing Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, and Palawan, faces significant environmental challenges including deforestation and habitat loss. Police officials say the initiative aims to address these concerns while building stronger ties between law enforcement and local communities.
