CALAPAN CITY, Oriental Mindoro — The combined effects of the southwest monsoon and tropical depression Neneng have left over 41,600 families struggling to cope across the Mimaropa region, authorities said Wednesday.

The Disaster Response Management Division reported that 41,658 families, encompassing approximately 190,990 residents, have been affected across 236 barangays in Occidental Mindoro, Oriental Mindoro, Romblon, and Palawan provinces. The assessment was current as of 3 a.m. on Wednesday.

The tropical depression and seasonal monsoon rains have combined to create challenging conditions throughout the four-province region. Authorities continue to monitor the situation and coordinate response efforts to assist affected communities.

The Mimaropa region, which comprises Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, and Palawan, is frequently impacted by monsoon systems and tropical weather disturbances during the wet season. Officials urged residents in the affected areas to remain vigilant and follow evacuation orders when necessary.
