Mimaropa region hits halfway mark in measles-rubella vaccination drive

CALAPAN CITY, Oriental Mindoro — Health authorities in Mimaropa reported Wednesday that 157,357 children aged 6 to 59 months have received vaccinations against measles and rubella, marking the halfway point in the region's supplemental immunization campaign.
The figure represents 50.40 percent of the region's target of 312,191 eligible children, according to the Department of Health Mimaropa office. The vaccination drive aims to boost immunity levels across the region and prevent outbreaks of the highly contagious diseases.
Measles and rubella remain significant health concerns in the Philippines, particularly among young children who have not completed their routine immunization schedules. The supplemental campaign targets children who may have been missed during regular vaccination programs or require booster doses.
Health officials in Mimaropa continue to mobilize resources to reach the remaining eligible population before the campaign concludes. The DOH has urged parents and caregivers to bring children to vaccination sites to ensure complete protection against these preventable diseases.
