CALAPAN CITY, Oriental Mindoro — Health authorities in Mimaropa have administered measles-rubella vaccines to 109,371 children as of mid-August, representing 35.03 percent progress toward their immunization goal for the region.

The Department of Health's Mimaropa regional office is conducting a Supplemental Immunization Activity targeting 312,191 children across the five provinces of Occidental Mindoro, Oriental Mindoro, Marinduque, Palawan, and Romblon, as well as Puerto Princesa City.

The vaccination drive aims to strengthen community immunity against both measles and rubella, highly contagious viral diseases that can cause serious complications in children. Health officials have been expanding outreach efforts across the geographically dispersed island provinces to ensure wider coverage.

With vaccination coverage at roughly one-third of the target population, health authorities continue to mobilize resources and personnel to accelerate immunization activities throughout the remaining provinces. Officials did not specify a deadline for completing the campaign or provide updated timelines for reaching full coverage.
