Miner killed as vehicle plunges into Benguet ravine
A 29-year-old mining worker died Friday when his sport utility vehicle careened off a mountain road and plummeted into a deep ravine in Itogon, Benguet. His passenger, also a miner, survived the crash but suffered serious injuries.

The fatal accident occurred at approximately 9 a.m. on Friday, September 25, in Sitio Urica, Barangay Ampucao, when the SUV veered off the roadway and plunged approximately 80 meters into the ravine below. The 29-year-old driver was pronounced dead at the scene, while his 39-year-old passenger was rescued with multiple injuries and subsequently transported to a medical facility for treatment.
Both occupants were married residents of Sitio Urica and worked as miners in the area. Initial reports indicate the vehicle left the road while traveling through the mountainous terrain near the mining town of Itogon, though the exact cause of the accident remains under investigation.
