Misamis Oriental police officer detained over child sexual abuse allegations
A police officer in Misamis Oriental has been arrested and is undergoing inquest proceedings following allegations of sexually abusing a minor, provincial authorities confirmed Wednesday.

The personnel was taken into custody after a complaint was filed against him for violation of laws protecting children from sexual abuse, the Misamis Oriental Police Provincial Office (MORPPO) said in an advisory.
The officer is currently detained pending the completion of inquest proceedings, which will determine whether sufficient evidence exists to proceed with formal charges. The MORPPO did not immediately disclose additional details regarding the alleged victim or the circumstances surrounding the complaint.
The arrest underscores renewed scrutiny on cases involving law enforcement personnel accused of abusing their authority and exploiting vulnerable individuals.
