Civil aviation authorities confirmed Sunday that a projectile struck a complex housing terminals 3 and 4 at Riyadh's King Khalid International Airport, which handles domestic flight operations. The attack resulted in multiple casualties, with numerous injured persons receiving treatment across several hospitals, some in critical condition.
Among the confirmed dead are four Saudi nationals, two Bangladeshi citizens, and individuals from Palestine, the United States, Egypt, Jordan, Syria, and Sudan, according to a statement from Saudi authorities. The exact identities and number of critically injured remain under review as rescue and medical operations continue.
The Saudi-led military coalition has attributed responsibility for the strike to Houthi rebels operating from neighboring Yemen, a group backed by Iran. The attack represents a significant escalation in a conflict that has expanded dramatically in recent months, with intensified clashes between Yemen's Houthi forces and Saudi-supported government troops.
The incident marks the deadliest attack recorded across Gulf Arab nations since regional hostilities began to intensify. International observers are closely monitoring the situation as tensions between Iran-aligned groups and Western-backed regional powers show no signs of de-escalating.
