KUALA LUMPUR — The Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) senior officer Mohd Sani Harul was posthumously honoured at a special appreciation event held by the Ministry of Housing and Local Government (KPKT) on Thursday evening, recognising his service and sacrifice.

Mohd Sani went missing during relief operations following severe flooding that struck Nepal earlier this year. The senior firefighter was among 121 individuals and organisations recognised at the KPKT appreciation night for their contributions to the ministry's work and national service.

The ceremony highlighted the dedication of personnel from various agencies, including rescue workers and public servants who have made significant sacrifices in their line of duty. Mohd Sani's recognition underscores the risks faced by emergency responders deployed to assist during natural disasters both domestically and internationally.

The JBPM regularly deploys personnel to provide humanitarian assistance and disaster relief support in the region. The recognition at the appreciation night serves as acknowledgement of the sacrifices made by frontline workers and their commitment to serving communities beyond Malaysia's borders.
