Missing Malaysian returns safely after Nepal disaster; 54 still unaccounted

A Malaysian citizen who was reported missing following devastating floods and landslides in Nepal has returned home safely. Fifty-four other individuals remain unaccounted for following the natural disasters.

PUTRAJAYA — Malaysian authorities confirmed that a citizen previously listed as uncontactable following the recent flooding and landslide disasters in Nepal has made it back to safety, providing some relief to families anxiously awaiting news of missing loved ones.

The individual, who had been reported missing in the aftermath of the natural disasters that swept through Nepal, managed to return home despite the challenging conditions created by the calamities. The Malaysian government had been coordinating with Nepalese authorities and local rescue teams in efforts to locate the missing national.

However, officials expressed continued concern over 54 individuals who remain unaccounted for following the floods and landslides. Rescue and relief operations are ongoing in affected areas as authorities work to locate the missing persons and provide assistance to those impacted by the disasters.

The Malaysian Foreign Ministry urged citizens in Nepal to exercise caution and remain in contact with the nearest Malaysian diplomatic mission. Families of the unaccounted individuals have been advised to provide any available information to authorities to aid ongoing search and rescue efforts.
