Mississippi teen's autism advocacy earns runner-up finish at national pageant

Madalyn Sullivan, a student at Oxford High School in Mississippi, finished as first runner-up at the Miss America's Teen national competition after representing her home state. Sullivan's pageant participation showcases her commitment to autism advocacy, an initiative sparked by her sister's diagnosis.

The teenager founded Millie's Mission, a grassroots effort dedicated to raising awareness and support for individuals with autism spectrum disorder. As part of her mission, Sullivan co-authored a children's book titled "Meet Millie" designed to foster understanding of autism among younger audiences.

Demonstrating her dedication to community engagement, Sullivan distributed copies of the book to public libraries across all 82 counties in Mississippi. The initiative reflects a broader effort to make educational resources about autism accessible to families and educators throughout the state.
