Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim announced that MITI will pursue wider market access for Malaysian goods in India as part of efforts to deepen economic ties between the two nations. Speaking in Kerala, Anwar underscored the importance of expanding trade opportunities in the Indian market, which presents significant potential for Malaysian exporters across various sectors.
The move reflects Malaysia's broader strategy to diversify its export markets and strengthen economic partnerships across South Asia. India, as one of the region's largest economies, represents a key growth opportunity for Malaysian businesses seeking to expand their international presence.
MITI's efforts will likely focus on removing trade barriers, identifying sectoral opportunities, and facilitating business-to-business connections between Malaysian and Indian companies. The ministry is expected to work closely with Indian counterparts to identify priority areas for expanded cooperation.
The announcement comes amid Malaysia's continued emphasis on deepening regional economic integration and exploring new avenues for trade growth. Strengthening ties with India aligns with Malaysia's strategic positioning in South and Southeast Asian commerce.
