MANILA — Nicolas Torre III, general manager of the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority, has extended his authorized leave for an additional week, pushing back his return to the agency from October 8 to October 16, according to MMDA Chair Atty. Don Artes.
Artes announced the extension on Tuesday, indicating that Torre had requested the additional time away to handle personal matters. The MMDA chief's initial leave period was set to conclude on October 8, but circumstances required him to remain away from his post for a longer duration.
Torre's extended absence comes as the MMDA continues to manage traffic and infrastructure matters across the Metro Manila area. The agency's operations are expected to continue under the supervision of other senior officials during his leave.
No additional details regarding the specific reasons for Torre's extended leave were disclosed by Artes, who noted that the general manager is expected to fully resume his duties by mid-October.
