MMDA readies five major cemeteries for Undas 2026 traffic surge

The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) announced Wednesday that it has identified five major cemeteries across Metro Manila as key focus areas for traffic management during Undas 2026. MMDA Traffic Discipline Office Director Atty. Vic Nuñez made the designation public, citing the need for coordinated preparation ahead of the yearly surge in cemetery visitors during early November.

The five priority cemeteries include Manila North Cemetery, Manila South Cemetery, and Loyola Memorial Park, among others in the metropolitan area. These facilities typically experience significant congestion as thousands of residents visit graves to pay respects and perform traditional observances during the Undas period.

The agency's traffic management strategy will address congestion at these locations through enhanced traffic monitoring, deployment of personnel, and coordination with local government units and cemetery management. The MMDA said the designation underscores its commitment to maintaining traffic flow during peak visitation periods while ensuring public safety.

Official details regarding specific traffic management measures and implementation timelines are expected to be released in the coming months as Undas approaches.
