MMDA rushes boats, pontoons to Tarlac after bridge collapse

The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) moved swiftly to address transportation challenges in Tarlac City after the Aquino Bridge sustained partial structural damage. On September 25, the agency dispatched a substantial complement of emergency response equipment to the affected area, prioritizing public safety and mobility.

The emergency deployment included 50 pontoons, 50 life vests, eight engine-powered rubber boats and additional rescue gear. These assets were positioned to help residents navigate the river as an alternative to the compromised bridge infrastructure.

The MMDA's rapid response underscores efforts to minimize disruption to residents and commerce in the Tarlac area. Authorities have not yet provided updates on the extent of bridge damage or expected timelines for repairs.
