Prime Minister Narendra Modi has assured Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu of Centre's commitment to support relief and rehabilitation efforts following the twin cyclonic disasters that ravaged the state.
During their conversation, Naidu detailed the extensive damage inflicted by cyclones Arnab and Murasu across multiple sectors. The Chief Minister highlighted significant losses to agricultural output, horticulture production, road networks and electricity infrastructure, and sought immediate financial and material assistance from the Central government to address the crisis.
Beyond the domestic challenges, Naidu also drew the Prime Minister's attention to a pressing commercial issue affecting the state's farming community. A substantial consignment of chillies destined for Indian markets remains stranded at the Colombo port, creating additional economic pressure on exporters and traders in Andhra Pradesh.
The Prime Minister's assurance comes as the state grapples with the dual impact of the cyclones and the logistics challenges compounding economic losses in key agricultural sectors.
