Prime Minister Narendra Modi will mark his 76th birthday on Wednesday with multiple commemorative events spanning the country, also celebrating a quarter-century in public service.
In Delhi, Modi will inaugurate the Semiconductor India 2026 conference, while blood donation camps and lamp-lighting ceremonies will be held across the capital. The day will also see the launch of the 'Sewa Sankalp Bike Yatra' (Service Pledge Motorcycle Journey) simultaneously from Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh and Vadnagar in Gujarat, with flags flagged off by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Home Minister Amit Shah, and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.
The motorcycle expedition aims to promote awareness about government initiatives and public service schemes across multiple states. In Gujarat, the home state connection will be particularly marked with 88 lakh oil lamps to be lit in a mass observance, reflecting traditional Indian celebration practices.
These coordinated activities underscore the government's focus on combining political commemoration with broader public outreach and health awareness initiatives on the occasion.
