Modi government prioritizes women's empowerment through cooperative sector
Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah has emphasized women's empowerment through cooperatives as a core objective of the Modi government. He inaugurated several initiatives by the National Cooperative Consumers' Federation of India to strengthen women's participation in the cooperative sector.

Shah highlighted that the creation of a dedicated ministry for cooperation represented a significant achievement for rural development and agricultural advancement. He noted that stakeholders in the cooperative sector had been seeking such a ministry since Independence, with their demand finally being fulfilled under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's administration.
The minister stressed that the Modi government has made substantial progress in promoting women's empowerment and collective participation over the past decade. He characterized these efforts as part of a broader strategy to enhance rural livelihoods and strengthen India's agricultural foundation.
The initiatives unveiled at Kundara, Kerala, under the National Cooperative Consumers' Federation of India Limited aim to integrate more women into cooperative structures. These programmes are designed to expand economic opportunities and decision-making roles for women in the cooperative movement across India.
Shah's remarks underscored the government's commitment to leveraging cooperative structures as a mechanism for inclusive development, particularly in rural areas where agricultural cooperatives play a crucial role in farmer welfare and market access.
