Modi inaugurates ₹3,350 crore infrastructure push across Ladakh

Prime Minister Narendra Modi formally inaugurated and dedicated a substantial infrastructure package across Ladakh on Monday, marking a significant milestone in the Union Territory's development agenda. The ₹3,350 crore investment encompasses multiple sectors critical to the region's growth, reflecting the government's commitment to bolstering connectivity and essential services in the high-altitude region.

Among the key projects unveiled was a new terminal at Leh Airport, designed to enhance the region's air connectivity and passenger handling capacity. The initiative addresses growing travel demand to Ladakh while supporting both tourism and strategic connectivity objectives. Complementing aviation infrastructure, Modi also commissioned a strategic road corridor, part of broader efforts to improve surface transportation networks and strengthen regional accessibility.

The project portfolio extends to critical utilities, including hydropower facilities and water reservoir systems. These installations are positioned to address Ladakh's energy requirements and water security challenges, supporting both domestic needs and developmental priorities. Officials indicated that the combined initiatives represent a comprehensive approach to infrastructure development across multiple domains essential to the region's long-term growth trajectory.
