Prime Minister Narendra Modi held an expansive roadshow in Varanasi on Monday, energizing supporters in his parliamentary constituency before a planned Indian Air Force airpower demonstration scheduled for the region. The high-profile event underscored the government's focus on the strategic eastern state and showcased Modi's continued political engagement with his home district.
The Indian Air Force's upcoming aerial display will present a comprehensive exhibition of India's military aviation strength, spanning multiple aircraft categories. The programme will feature indigenously developed platforms including the Tejas light combat aircraft and the Light Combat Helicopter Prachand, alongside transport and refueling aircraft such as the IL-76, IL-78, C-295 and AN-32.
The aerial demonstration will also include frontline fighter jets currently operational with the IAF, providing citizens with a rare opportunity to witness advanced military aviation capabilities. The event reflects India's growing emphasis on indigenous defence manufacturing and the operational readiness of its air arm.
Varanasi has witnessed increased national-level political and defence-related events in recent years, reinforcing the city's significance beyond its religious and cultural prominence. The coordinated roadshow and military display are expected to draw substantial public attention to the region.
