Modi receives Uzbekistan's top foreign honour during bilateral visit

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev conferred the honour on Modi on Sunday, recognising his contributions to strengthening relations between the two nations. The Prime Minister said he was honoured to receive the award and dedicated it to the 1.4 billion people of India, describing the accolade as a symbol of the deep-rooted friendship shared by the two civilisations.
Modi's visit to Uzbekistan focuses on expanding cooperation across multiple sectors, including trade, clean energy and regional connectivity initiatives. The two-day engagement is expected to yield substantive outcomes in advancing India's strategic interests in Central Asia.
The Ministry of External Affairs acknowledged that Modi received the honour for his instrumental role in elevating bilateral relations between India and Uzbekistan. The award underscores the significance both nations place on their partnership and their commitment to sustained engagement on issues of mutual concern and development.
