Modi to inaugurate ₹3,350-crore infrastructure push across Ladakh

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate a portfolio of infrastructure projects worth ₹3,350 crore across Ladakh, marking a significant push to enhance connectivity and basic services in the Union Territory.

The project suite includes the expansion of Leh airport's terminal facility, alongside a 298-kilometre road network designed to improve transportation links across the region. The development also encompasses hydroelectric power generation capacity and high-voltage transmission systems aimed at strengthening Ladakh's energy infrastructure.

Additional components of the initiative feature the establishment of a petroglyph conservation park, preserving the region's archaeological heritage, and the development of 40 water bodies across various Ladakh villages. These water conservation measures are expected to support agricultural and domestic requirements in the arid landscape.

The projects represent an integrated approach to Ladakh's infrastructure development, combining transportation, energy, cultural preservation, and resource management objectives. The region, designated as a separate Union Territory in 2019, has been a focus for accelerated central government investment in recent years.
