Guterres commended Modi for India's fourth chairmanship of BRICS, underscoring the nation's significant role in multilateral forums. The discussion on institutional reform centered on the need to modernize the UN Security Council and other international bodies to ensure they remain relevant and representative of today's world.
The bilateral meeting comes as India prepares to host the 18th BRICS Summit on September 12-13 in the capital. The summit will bring together leaders from Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa to address shared challenges and explore avenues for enhanced cooperation among the bloc's member nations.
