Modi urges nationwide push against drug abuse in monthly radio address
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has called on citizens to unite in combating drug abuse and securing a stronger future for India's youth. Speaking in his monthly 'Mann Ki Baat' radio programme, Modi highlighted the growing momentum of the government's drug prevention campaign across the country.

Modi appealed for collective action to eliminate substance abuse, stating that the 'Drug-Free Youth for a Developed India' campaign has gained considerable traction nationwide. "Our goal is crystal clear - drug-free youth, drug-free India. Let us come together to build a drug-free India and a stronger future for our youth," the Prime Minister said during the Sunday broadcast.
The 'Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan' (NMBA), or Drug-Free India campaign, represents a flagship government initiative launched on Independence Day 2020 under the National Action Plan for Drug Demand Reduction. The comprehensive programme aims to address substance abuse through multiple channels including public awareness drives, community engagement, medical treatment, rehabilitation services, and social reintegration support.
The campaign reflects the government's multi-pronged approach to tackling drug abuse at the grassroots level, fostering what officials describe as a nationwide movement against addiction. Modi's monthly radio address has become a platform for the Prime Minister to directly communicate government priorities and policy initiatives to citizens across India.
